Hey everyone, This is Kristina, creator of Butterfly Reels. I’m an up and coming storyteller and I am proud to welcome you to my first official blog post! At this point most of you are close friends and family, so I just wanted to say thank you for your support as I start out on this new adventure. Same goes out to the people who helped me to get this website up and running. As well as the composer friend who finally forced me out of my internet hidey-hole and onto facebook for everyone to see (you know who you are 😏). For those of you that haven’t seen some of my more recent work, I’d like to highlight some of the projects I’ve been working on. I just finished working on a virtual choir test project with a local conductor, am currently wrapping up post production on an independent study film of mine, and I’m also working on pre-production for my senior thesis film that’s being shot this fall. So there’s a lot that’s going on behind the curtain that I’m excited for you all to see. But I think one question that’s probably going through all of your minds is “what is Butterfly Reels?” And to that I have an answer for you. Butterfly Reels is going to be my editing & production home, particularly once I graduate from Liberty University’s Zaki Gordon Center for Cinematic Arts with my film degree. Hopefully, I’ll making some short films to start out and maybe in the far, very far future, even some feature length films. In the more immediate future though, this will be where I share updates on things like my senior thesis film that will be in production this fall (Provided COVID-19 doesn’t shut us down 🤞). I will also be offering some of my video editing services to the film community at large, especially for virtual choirs starting in the fall. (Haven’t worked out all the details yet though, that’ll have to be a post of its own.) To be completely honest with you all there are a lot of unknowns here, film isn’t exactly the most stable or steady career path. But, as I have learned over and over again during the course of the past year, if you want something bad enough, you have to let go of your fear and pursue it with all of your heart. Otherwise you’ll never get anywhere. I still have to remind myself of that constantly. So taking a look at the length of this post, I think that’s enough of an overview for now. I’ve got some projects coming down the pipeline that I’m really excited for all of you to see, so keep your eyes peeled for updates in the coming weeks. And until next time: Keep flying higher, 🦋Kristina🦋
